Deep green leaves brushed, splashed, and sometimes boldly painted with shades of pink make Pink Princess one of the most recognizable variegated Philodendrons. No two leaves need to match—and that’s exactly the point. This is a plant to grow for the anticipation, the surprises, and the pure fun of seeing what comes next.

Care Guide

Light

Provide bright, indirect light to support healthy growth and variegation.

The pink portions of the leaves contain less chlorophyll than the green portions, so good light is particularly important for a variegated plant. However, lighter-colored tissue can also be more susceptible to damage from prolonged harsh direct sunlight.

Gentle morning sun may be tolerated when the plant is properly acclimated, but avoid suddenly moving it into intense direct sun.

Water

Allow the upper portion of the potting mix to begin drying before watering thoroughly.

Water until excess drains freely and avoid allowing the root zone to remain continuously saturated.

Instead of watering on a rigid schedule, check the soil. Light, temperature, season, pot size, and active growth will all affect how quickly your plant uses water.

Humidity

Moderate humidity is appreciated, although Pink Princess can grow successfully in typical household conditions.

Higher humidity may support healthy growth, particularly while new leaves are developing, but good airflow is important as well.

Temperature

Warm, stable household temperatures are best.

Protect your Pink Princess from cold drafts and abrupt temperature changes.

Fertilizer

Feed periodically during active growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer according to the product directions.

More fertilizer does not equal more pink. Avoid overfertilizing in an attempt to influence variegation or force rapid growth.

Growth Habit

Pink Princess is a climbing Philodendron.

Providing a moss pole, plank, or another sturdy vertical support allows it to follow its natural climbing habit and can support increasingly mature growth.

Its pink variegation varies naturally from leaf to leaf, and individual leaves can display very different amounts and patterns of color.

A Note About Variegation

Your Pink Princess does not owe you a half-moon.

Some leaves may have generous areas of pink.

Some may be beautifully speckled.

Some may be predominantly green.

The amount and distribution of variegation can change as the plant grows, and no responsible seller can guarantee what a future leaf will look like.

Pink areas also contain less chlorophyll and can be more prone to cosmetic browning than green tissue.

An imperfect pink patch doesn’t mean you’ve failed your plant.

Look at the health of the whole plant—not the Instagram-worthiness of one leaf.

Pet Safety

Not pet friendly. Philodendrons contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and can cause oral irritation if chewed or ingested by cats or dogs.

Keep this plant away from pets and small children likely to chew foliage.
