Care Guide
Light
Provide bright, indirect light for healthy growth and attractive coloration.
Berry Allusion can tolerate somewhat lower indoor light, although growth may slow and coloration may be less pronounced.
Protect the foliage from prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water
Allow the upper portion of the potting mix to begin drying before watering thoroughly.
Water until excess drains freely and avoid keeping the root zone continuously saturated.
Rather than following a rigid watering schedule, check the soil.
Your plant’s water use will change with light, temperature, pot size, season, and active growth.
Learn the plant, not the calendar.
Humidity
Berry Allusion appreciates moderate humidity but can adapt to normal household conditions.
Higher humidity can support healthy growth, particularly as new foliage develops, but good airflow remains important.
Temperature
Warm, stable household temperatures are best.
Protect your Arrowhead Plant from cold drafts, heating vents, air-conditioning blasts, and abrupt temperature changes.
Fertilizer
Feed periodically during active growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer according to the product directions.
There’s no need to overfeed in an attempt to produce faster growth or stronger coloration.
Healthy roots, appropriate light, and consistent care are the better foundation.
Growth Habit
Berry Allusion is a climbing Syngonium, although young plants often have a compact, bushy appearance.
As stems lengthen, the plant can be allowed to trail, pruned to maintain a fuller shape, or provided with vertical support and encouraged to climb.
Like other Syngonium podophyllum, leaf form can become increasingly divided as the plant reaches greater maturity.
So don’t be surprised if the plant you know several years from now doesn’t look exactly like the little Arrowhead Plant you originally brought home.
That’s not a problem.
That’s growing up.
A Note About Color
Berry Allusion is grown for its beautiful combination of green and rosy-pink foliage, but individual leaves can naturally vary in their coloration.
Light, leaf age, and growing conditions can all influence how the plant appears.
Don’t judge its health by whether every leaf contains exactly the amount of pink you expected.
The green portions aren’t the boring bits.
They’re busy keeping the whole operation running.
Pet Safety
Not pet friendly. Syngonium podophyllum contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and can cause significant oral irritation if chewed or ingested by cats or dogs.
Keep it away from pets and small children likely to chew foliage.
